the first picture is where we got our inspiration from for the eye,............ the chile peppers I have no idea where we got that from though. It was a fun project to do but it was a little harder than I thought it would be, at first.
My original idea for motion in art was a mobile that represented me. I had shapes cut out - a book and a website logo. I tried some other ones but they didn't work out. I changed it to an optical illusion. I borrowed a set of "Fractiles - 7" from my aunt to create the illusion. My finished artwork was a cube falling apart. It was easier and more fun using the Fractiles. I got to make a weird person/thing.
These past two weeks we have have worked on my Artists Collaborate artwork. In the beginning we had to figure out what we were going to do (Envision). Our plan is to make a mobile with chile peppers and an eyeball with flames on it. So far we've made the chiles and the eyeball is formed. With this project I've had to Stretch and Explore - I've never used Mod Podge with paper towel. It's like papier-mache. It's harder to use the brush to apply the Mod Podge so I've just been using my fingers and it works well. The artwork is going very good so far.
The last two weeks I've been working on Motion in Art. I had to envision an idea - A mobile that represents me. Yesterday we did an Exquisite Corpse activity - we drew a head, then passed it on to another person, drew a body, passed it on and then drew the rest of the body and gave it back to the person. Develop Craft - we worked on drawing.
The last few weeks I've been working on a bunch of things. First, I finished my bird for the Figure artwork. The week of Thanksgiving we had Hand Turkey Tuesday and we did Task Party. I've also been working on my Motion in Art project.
For the Figure artwork I had to use envisioning - to figure out what to do next. It started out more as an owl but looked like a woodpecker so I changed it. Still looks a little like an owl. At the Task Party I had to Stretch & Explore I've been working on my Figure artwork. I originally envisioned my artwork to be an owl but as I worked, something got bumped and moved so I changed the design. I'm also envisioning what glazes will look best on my finished sculpture. Working with the clay, I made some observations about the clay. It's pretty easy to work with. It's cold - I almost want gloves working with it! I also observed that the clay looks lighter as it dries - the moisture is removed.
My artwork looks like a video game. I used a thingy (some kind of not-being-used-piece-of-garbage technology) and took it apart. The main body part is white plastic and it's about 4 x 6 inches and about an inch thick. I took out the motherboard, broke off a bunch of pieces and turned that into the "screen." Then I glued the "screen" onto the white base and painted on both parts. It says "The Game of Life" on the main body part.
As I was taking it apart, it started looking like a video game so I went with that. I like video games but it's not like I play them all the time. When I finished this, I was proud that it actually looked like something. In the past, I've felt like I'm not that good at making stuff but I'm improving as I experiment with art. I'm happy about the way it turned out. In the last 3 weeks we have worked on clay, figure sculpture, and pumpkin. One of the studio habits I've been working on is develop craft. I've been learning how to use the carving foam, which is a new material. It feels really weird and grainy. I've also been envisioning for my figure sculpture. I started with the idea of an owl but switched to a woodpecker instead.
