The artwork looks like two masks - like the theater masks - one is supposed to be anger (red) and the other is supposed to be happiness (blue). The background is gray to be neutral and they are tied together with the ribbons that normally keep the mask on your face.
To make this, I drew the outline first. Then, I made the masks with oil pastel. Next, I painted the background. Finally, I added layers of color into the eyes. The goal of this artwork was to show how emotions are like a mask but they are all connected. I picked the theater masks because of the saying "a mask of emotions." This artwork worked but it wasn't exactly how I wanted to convey the message. If I were to do something different, I would have a person holding the masks instead of just the masks. The last few weeks we've been working on our final artwork on Identity. We also practiced portrait drawing. In portrait drawing, we watched some videos on how to draw portraits. I can reflect on my ability to see what I can improve on in portrait drawing. I'm not going an artist for the rest of my life but it doesn't hurt to try to be a better drawer. I'm envisioning ideas for my identity artwork. My artwork is going to be able how we act, like wearing masks, to keep our emotions hidden.
